School Safety & Security

My Number one Priority

My experience serving in the United States Army during Operation Enduring freedom is crucial to Avon. I am the only candidate with the security experience to focus on bettering the security of our students and staff during this tumultuous time for our nation.

Our children and teachers are targets for the unthinkable; my experience in implementing and executing security protocols and practices for assets, installations and vulnerable personnel across the world will greatly impact our ability as a community to ensure the safety of our students and staff.

What I will do

Security

Our children + staff are extremely vulnerable; I want to update and enhance our security practices and protocols to prevent the unthinkable tragedy other schools have faced.

Fresh Ideas

Fresh thinking is deeply needed for our school board; with one member serving and sitting on the board for sixteen years, it's time for a new look on the future for our students.

Budget Alignment

With a school budget crisis looming in the years ahead,  I will bring my 20 years of experience in growing and managing a profitable and fiscally sound business to help ensure our district's financial footing.

Student Health

Our children need better options for their daily health. I will champion healthier nutritional options for our kids, and help move us away from the carb loaded and processed foods we are feeding them daily.

Anti-Bullying

All students need to be and feel safe, appreciated and respected in our district. The current program that our schools have embraced (the "Start with Hello" program) is more focused on political propaganda versus actually helping our students learn to embrace differences.

Parental Buy-in

As one of the only board members running who currently has children in our school district, I can share that I possess extremely personal "buy-in" for our students, faculty and future.

Q+A With the Candidate

It is important to know who you are voting on and what I will champion for you

Why are you running?

Why? For my children, and the countless families in our school district who want to see Avon stay focused on principle driven values and district budgets that don’t require levies seemingly every other year.

What are your Qualifications?

Being a local small business owner of 19 years means I’m an experienced master of budget forecasting, human resource management, and legal compliances.

Being a parent means I know how to instill and teach values.

I hold a business degree, but no fancy letters next to my hame; only real life lessons learned in sacrificial service and organizational leadership as an NCO in the US Army.

What are your budget priorities?

Our existing school board and the incumbents running on a collective ticket will have you believe that our budgets are best handled by asking Avon taxpayers to continually foot the bill for a new levy whenever they have overspent the precious tax dollars we have entrusted them with.

I will not be advocating for large unnecessary property tax levies as our current board members attempted last autumn.

My focus? A deep forensic dive into our budget to prioritize our teachers, classrooms and the safety of our children.

Avon, why vote back in the individuals that championed that losing budget proposition this past Fall?

How can our schools be safer?

Every parent’s worst nightmare is their child not returning home from school the day they were sent.

I will improve our districts security and safety protocols, practices and technologies to ensure our children and staff are as protected as possible. My plan involves the following;

  • Independent Audit. An independent  audit of our security practices from a board approved qualified security expert analysis firm.
  • Open Community Forum. An open community forum where the Board of Education will meet with community members, share these findings, and listen to new ideas and suggestions.
  • Engage with volunteer partnerships. Like a neighborhood watch program, there are many volunteer based initiatives that partner with veterans and retired LEOs to provide an extra non-invasive layer of security. In partnership with our local police department, this entirely free and highly effective layer of security will be a valuable asset to protect our students and staff.
  • Utilize AI technologies. Many communities who have experienced school violence or a mass casualty event have installed updated technologies that Avon lacks.  I am not proposing metal detectors at our entrances, but technologies like simple non-invasive AI software that detects firearms through existing security cameras.  These technologies are highly cost-effective and non-invasive, and should have been installed in our district years ago.

My experience serving in the US Army during Operation Enduring freedom is crucial to our district. My unit’s entire deployment mission was to implement and improve executing security protocols and practices for assets, installations and vulnerable personnel across the world.

You're Different from the Other Candidates?

I’m a political outsider, removed and separated from the three candidates who are now running as a collective.

It’s crucial to Avon that the Board of Education houses individual members that are not working as a partisan co-op, but instead are working in a balanced capacity to produce the best ideas through critical analysis and thoughtful debate

Our district needs budgetary constraint, an updated plan of safety and security, and the hiring of the right person to help us navigate the future ahead.

What our Board of Education needs is a diversity of thought and opinion, not a coalition of like-minded individuals.

If I am not elected; the Avon school systems will be left with a single minded majority collective. This collective, left unchecked and undisputed will be free to transform Avon’s school policies, values and finances in anyway they please

How will you hire the new Superintendent

This summer, the existing board of education nearly hired an interim candidate that carried with him an extremely questionable past.

If it were not for concerned citizens and educators stepping in at the last moment, we would have been stuck with a hiring decision that my opponents were championing.

We need a fair minded individual who is apolitical in nature.

We need a person focused on principal driven values and educational success for our children.

Please do not entrust the hiring of this important role to a Board of Education that has failed you in the past..

Buildings and Budgets?

With a declining student enrollment, the answer for our district is not the construction of a new elementary school or athletic facility as our current board of education advocated for last fall, but the reduction, consolidation and sale of structures that are costly and underutilized.

A vote for any of the three that are running as a collective will likely ensure that they will propose a similar initiative as they attempted last fall to voters.

Whereas a vote for me will ensure an efficiency of budget and buildings in our district’s current possession.

What about Social Education for our Children?

I am a devoted husband of 18 years, and father to our four children. Three of which are enrolled in the Avon School System.

Because I currently have children in our school system (unlike other candidates) I am aware of the importance of teaching our children how to understand, accept and respect  children who are different from them in a variety of ways.

I will champion adoption of a new platform to help instill values of respect and understanding so that students of any creed, race, religion, gender, or socioeconomic background can find safety, friendship and educational success in Avon.

Our current platform the existing board quickly and carelessly adopted without community consultation  (the “Start with Hello” program) is laden with a clear social engineering agenda, delving into radical political teachings in its documented and published content.  The current program being utilized is built on a platform of subtle (and not-so-subtle)  indoctrination of radical political agendas.

There are a plethora of options on the menu we can consider as replacements from the approved Ohio Department of Education list, and we need a more effective alternative from what we currently are working with.

I believe that polarizing radical ideology (in all its forms and leanings) should be kept outside of our educational system. This includes religious ideology and sexual identity politics.

I think the mission of our school should be incredibly precise to focus on education for success in life.  .

Campaign Video Introduction

A quick introductory video on myself and my thoughts on school safety

My Life

Husband. Father. Neighbor. Entrepreneur.

Above all things I am first and foremost a devoted husband of 18 years, and father to our four wonderful children. Three of our four are actively enrolled in the Avon School System with the fourth attending in the year ahead.

I deeply believe that any person sitting in our school board should actively and currently have children in our school system. Without that personal connection and "buy-in" the board member or candidate is disconnected and disenfranchised from the leadership decisions required to influence our schools.

While some of the photographs below are intentionally outdated to help protect my children, we raise our children in a home with faith, integrity and kindness.

And as you can see, a lot of fun 🤩
